The Challenge: Modernizing a Business Intelligence (BI) Setup

ProHealth Group had big challenges with their BI setup. They were using an outdated setup, made up of SQL Server Views that were slow and complicated. This inefficient data environment timed out often, and if they built anything new it slowed down their data even more. 

The ProHealth team felt stuck. They couldn’t get the insights they needed from their data. They knew they needed faster, modern tools that would load quickly to take action on their data. So they asked Boston Data Co. to help them set up a new set of data tools and hit their goals.

Their New Data Architecture

We rethought how ProHealth Group modeled and used their data. We recommended Snowflake as the data warehouse and Fivetran to replicate their data from SQL Server into Snowflake. dbt Cloud was added to handle data transformations their series of SQL views had handled. We also taught their team data modeling practices with these new tools to make sure they could build on what we set up. 

Before the upgrade, ProHealth Group used four core dashboards, each with a similar setup behind it. Every time they changed their logic, they had to review each dashboard, so adding new details took time. Thanks to dbt and an improved data model, all of their data is now in a single dashboard they can easily update whenever the business needs change.
